For you beginners out there that know you're not going to quit. ThisPositive Grid set up is unreal. I would suggest buying the Spark Go. It's an excellent tiny battery-operated practice amp. You can take anywhere. It has all the same software as the 40-watt more expensive model. The Go is just over 100. dollars, which is incredible considering all the amp and stomp boxes that come with it. And play along backtracking and the ability to access any song from u-tube you can think of. Plus, it teaches you how to play it. And there A.I. you can jam with. All of that for a little over 100 bucks. Then you get the FL response 140-watt Positive Grid powered cabinet that is made for the Go to hook up to. You can plug right into it for power instead of batteries. It's made for each other. The powered cabinet is 289.00. That's all you will ever need. Plus, you can blue tooth it and listen to your favorite music. And you can play bass, piano or sing. Because it is a flat response speaker system. I've been playing for 40 years. If they only had this when I was learning, it's just mind-boggling. The money I would have saved. The whole setup is less money than a decent guitar. Your younger generation is unbelievably lucky. It's crazy good for the money. And the kicker is it extremely easy to use. I'm an old man who absolutely hates and doesn't do computers. I can bearly post this comment. So get the cheapest one, the Go. You get all the goodies and hook it up to the power cab. Then the world is your oyster. Jam on!!

For just under $2K you too can own one. I bought a sweet Yamaha FG700 for $100 and it holds its own with $2K guitars. I would pay the money, but for a mini Les Paul like Edward Van Halen used on “Little Guitars”. Cool axe, but too much bread.

I remember open E to be the first open tuning I tried, mostly because our garageband often played blues songs int key of E. But the more I learned about blues songs I found that open D and open G often where the key of choice. As for now open G has become my favourite tuning.

Good video! Now try this - tune to a minor 7th & put the slide on your index finger. Now you can play any minor 7, minor, major, major 7 etc, by sliding and adding 1 fret to the minor and 2 frets to the minor 7th (as needed). You can pick any scale maj or minor with the slide and one finger. Sorry I'm so late to the party.

Thanks so much for this excellent review/overview. I just got my Spark 40 (it got here 2 WEEKS EARLIER THAN EXPECTED.) This short video taught me so much! And that end piece about jamming - I don’t have enough experience to be sure the chords are accurate, so I appreciate your check on that. 5 stars to you, and 5 stars to Spark. Saving me $1000’s on gear.
